The attendance was larger than usual, so the gourmet feast was amazing! Nobody went hungry.
The minutes will be posted on this site, when they are passed (in a year!)
Denis Paccagnella was pleased to add Ray Kiff to the Club’s Life Membership.
In addition to being Orillia’s first specialist Ophthalmologist and the Hospital’s Chief of Staff, he found time to be involved in Nature and the Club.
He took care of his Oro Medonte Bluebird boxes and was involved in the Bluebird Society, working with Leanore Wianko, and reporting important data to the Society.
Ray also committed to observing 2 squares for the breeding bird atlas for five years in the early 2000’s. The squares were located one to the east of Orillia near Lagoon City/Dalrymple area, and the other in a remote area of Manitoulin Island, where the family has a hunting camp.
As for the club, Ray has held the positions of President, Vice President and Treasurer, and of course Past President.
We lost Janet, his wife, last November, but Ray has 4 great children, including Sheila Rose a club member.
Following the formal meeting there was a member’s slide show. There are a lot of good photographers in the club.
Barb Ryckman about Nicaragua,
Kevin Binstead about National Parks in Southwest USA ,
Vicky Sherwood about the Mayan Ruins in Mexico
Cathy Bernativicius about the geology of the Azores,
Rob Henderson showed photos from Florida and locally,
Marilyn Clark, Arni Stinnissen and Donald Macdonald showed photos taken locally .
Donald showed jumping deer and an almost invisible Snowy Owl in a field.
Arni concentrated on Algonquin Park, especially crossbills.
