Barb Ryckman sent us this report – she is notorious for choosing bad weather for her trips.
What a beautiful sunny day! 11 people met and made our way to the Couchiching Conservancey property, the Alexander Hope-Smith property, near Washago.
Our 11 comprised members of the Orillia Naturalists and guests from the Ganaraska hiking club. Carol spent time studying the tracks in the snow and confirmed that some of them were coyote but the majority seemed to be dogs from local houses. We did enjoy the previously tracked trails, providing us with easy going.
Some birds we observed were Blue Jays, Black Capped Chickadees, an American Crow and a couple of White-Breasted Nuthatches. After our snow shoe hike out to the river and back on the green trail, taking the yellow loop for some added interest.
8 of us decided to enjoy lunch at the Log Cabin restaurant in Washago to continue the camaraderie. It was a wonderful day, maybe my curse is broken.
