Muriel reports that the evening walk number 4 ….. turned into a pond watching car cruise with 21 people.
It is very interesting what turns up in a picture . A Great Blue Heron, a Blue-winged Teal, An American Bittern, and some Mallard Ducks , all in one Great shot !
After checking out the barn Pond we decided it might be a good idea to check all the other ponds near by. We saw about 10 pairs of Osprey , one waiting for nest repairs. The Yellowlegs ( mostly Lesser) were back in small flocks, as well as a mixture of smaller shore birds , too far away to identify. A Wilson’s Snipe was calling at dusk , as was a Red-Bellied
Woodpecker and one wood Frog. We had heard Spring Peepers and Chorus frogs as well.
The list of sighting goes on..Bufflehead Duck, Tree swallows ( a welcome sight) , Turkey Vultures , Canada Geese, Belted Kingfisher, Killdeer and Beaver.
Much is happening outside. I ‘m always amazed at what’s to be seen, and I wonder what we miss. Let’s take a second look.
