Leanore Wiancko and Kay Price have faithfully monitored this chimney for a number of years,
and every year some of us have joined them.
On a very cold night, with occasional spattering of light rain, a group gathered to observe
Chimney Swift activity at our usual site – the chimney at the Opera House.
At about 8:45 about 7 swifts were observed in the sky and near the chimney.
In spite of waiting until about 9:20, no more swifts were seen, and none entered this chimney.
Apparently something about this chimney no longer pleases them.
If we want to have a swift watch next year, we may have to find the site where they must have moved.
Any suggestions?
