Perseid Meteor Showers ✨
August 11/12/13 📌
(specific time detailed below)
You are invited to join Bill & Vicki Sherwood to view the Perseid Meteor Showers [https://earthsky.org/…/everything-you-need-to-know…/] which occur on August 11/12/13. In 2023, the waning crescent moon will not interfere with the meteor shower. The August Perseid meteor shower is rich and steady, from early August through the peak. The Perseid meteors are colorful. And they frequently leave persistent trains. All of these factors make the Perseid shower perhaps the most beloved meteor shower for the Northern Hemisphere.
Meet at the BlueBird Ranch Nature Reserve (a Couchiching Conservancy nature reserve) parking lot at the corner of Wylie and McNamee Roads around sunset. https://goo.gl/maps/fZTLdCuex4gVUAiT7

Best viewing is done without light (e.g., car lights on Wylie Road) therefore it would be appreciated if people could arrive by 9pm and if possible not leave before 11pm. Bill will explain what is being observed in the night sky. Other observations are also possible — bats, aurora borealis, etc.
Bring a red flashlight, a chair, a hot drink and bug spray. Wear warm clothing.
You may choose to attend any of these three evenings. Viewing is cancelled if there is a forecast of rain. Please watch the forecast and RSVP before 7 PM on the night you will attend – call 705-259-1817.
