MEETINGS

Held at the Orillia Museum of Art and History (30 Peter St S, Orillia, ON L3V 5A9) 3rd floor, wheelchair access. Our meetings are hybrid. If you are attending in person, masks are optional. Meeting details are sent to our email list in advance.

OUTINGS

We meet for outings at the parking lot meet up at Zehrs parking lot in the northeasterly area near the Bank of Montreal (289 Coldwater Rd W, Orillia, ON L3V 6J3) to car pool and get directions to our outing location. Please ensure you arrive early. Outing details are sent to our email list in advance.

The land on which we gather is the traditional territory of the Anishnaabeg, specially Ojibwe/Chippewa people. This is Williams Treaty territory.

The meetings are held September through May at 7:00 p.m.

What does the Land Between mean? Get to know the remarkable and irreplaceable features and functions of The Land Between; a region that is often associated with Cottage Country. Here wildlife abounds. Species from the north and the south call this landscape home and it is a vital refuge for 59 Species at Risk and many common, yet declining species such as loon, lake trout, bear and moose. The Land Between is also the name of a grassroots charity that functions in unique ways, working to save this last stronghold in Ontario. Learn about ways you can help save the living land between.

Leora has a diverse and impressive background. She is a Strategic Project Manager, Soil and Water Technologist, has studied Economics, has diplomas in Fine Arts, and is a recognized leader in the social sector. She began in the “trenches”, with years of conducting hydrogeological, hydrological and wetland assessments. She then designed and delivered environmental remediation and restoration projects and grew to developing and managing large-scale and multi-partnered projects across Ontario and for the International Joint Commission between Canada and the USA. Leora is the recipient of the 2019 Roland Michener Conservation Award from CWF for exceptional work in wildlife research and conservation.
