Ontario Nature Huronia Regional Meeting

Ontario Nature Huronia Regional Meeting

We had over 25 people attend the regional meeting, held at GIIWEDIN KI (Rama North Lands).

They had time for a morning social where they listened and watched for birds over Lake Couchiching, then heard greetings from Barbara MacKenzie Wynia from Ontario Nature. Denis Paccagnella and Tanya Clark from our Club shared updates on club activities, including what the club is doing to promote activities on social media.

Barbara shared a Nature Network Update and highlights on Ontario Nature’s programs and campaigns.

Dorothy McKeown from Nature Barrie shared an update on activities from the Indigenous Relations Committee.

Then each group had an opportunity to say four things: (1) a new activity or program, (2) pressing local issues, (3) looking to the future, and (4) how Ontario Nature can help.

After lunch, Giniw/Kory Snache, a Physical and Outdoor Education Teacher did a property walkabout and shared teachings on understanding the importance of land.

Thank you everyone for coming out!
